The Estate Planning & Probate Section invites you to a live webinar with Alison Buchanan on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

Description: This live online program will focus on attorney ethics issues relevant to estate planning, trust, and probate lawyers.  Specifically, we will address some of the more pertinent revised Rules of Professional Conduct (what is new, what stayed the same, and what wasn’t included), risk management best practices particularly important for estate planning and trust lawyers, and the new California Rules of Court requiring training for those serving as independent counsel in conservatorships and guardianships.

Speaker: Alison Buchanan is a Shareholder in Hoge Fenton’s Silicon Valley office, where she is the chair of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group. Alison is a Certified Specialist in Legal Malpractice Law as certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She is a sought-after speaker on attorney ethics.

Practical Considerations Under the Newish Ethics Rules – Feb 27th

The rules of professional conduct are rules that every attorney must keep in mind while practicing law. The presentation will discuss the practical application of the rules of professional conduct in every day practice. This presentation will be interactive, and include best practices, from retention through termination of the attorney-client relationship, to comply with the rules of professional conduct.

The speaker, Russell S. Roeca is a State Bar certified professional malpractice attorney representing both underlying clients and lawyers in professional liability related matters.  As well as, counsels and represents lawyers before the State Bar Court in disciplinary matters.

Please join the Labor & Employment Section on Thursday, March 28, 2019, for a presentation on Avoiding Malpractice Claims – A Primer for Both New and Seasoned Attorneys by Jason E. Fellner, Shareholder at Murphy Pearson Bradley & Feeney.

Even meritless claims can burden you and your firm with financial and emotional costs. This presentation will highlight common mistakes even the best-intentioned lawyers make that often result in malpractice claims, and provide steps to take to avoid these pitfalls.​

Mr. Fellner is a trial lawyer who represents individual and corporate clients throughout California and Washington with a focus in professional liability defense, insurance, and civil litigation. Mr. Fellner has successfully represented clients in all phases of dispute resolution from pre-litigation mediation and arbitration all the way through trial. He also serves as general counsel to companies. A hallmark of his practice Mr. Fellner works collaboratively with his clients in providing them with recommendations on how best to address the legal, financial, and the emotional aspects of each case.
