Please join SMCBA for our 2022 Meet and Greet on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. All attorneys new to the practice of law in San Mateo County are invited to attend the our annual Meet and Greet. Meet with judges, District Attorneys, local practitioners, and court staff. Learn about procedural “dos and dont’s”, hear a brief presentation by supervising judges and join in an informal question and answer. This is a great opportunity you do not want to miss!
We will have welcome remarks from the San Mateo County Bar Association, various bench officers, and local legal organizations, followed by a Q&A sessions with a judges panel.
Cost: No cost for members.
Consistent with our prior virtual presentations that have qualified for MCLE credit, all attendees must register online prior to this in person event. Online registration will close on the morning of the event.
Family Law Section – Annual Judges Panel

Please join the Family Law Section on Friday, March 11, 2022, for our annual Judges Panel. Judges Greenberg, Franchi, Holt, and Reyna, as well as Commissioners Padilla and Halperin will join us for a special presentation covering their courtroom policies, preferences, and pet peeves.
Judge Susan L. Greenberg was the San Mateo County Court Commissioner from 2000 to 2014. Prior to that, she was an attorney in private practice. Her first position in her legal career was as a deputy district attorney in the San Mateo County District Attorney’s office. Judge Greenberg received her undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College in 1981, and she earned her J.D. from Hastings College of Law in 1984.
Judge Don R. Franchi is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. Mr. Franchi earned his B.S. from California State University at Hayward and his J.D. from Pepperdine University.
Judge Rachel E. Holt is a judge for the Family Law Division of the San Mateo County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on April 28, 2020. Hon. Rachel E. Holt earned a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1997. After graduating from law school, Honorable Holt began her legal career as a deputy district attorney in the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office in 1998. She served in that capacity until 2002, at which time she began working as a sole practitioner at the San Mateo County Private Defender Program. For much of the time, Holt also worked as a partner at Carr Yeley & Associates. Then, in 2014, she was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the San Mateo County Superior Court.
Judge Renee C. Reyna is a commissioner for the San Mateo County Superior Court in California. Reyna earned a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law.
Commissioner Christine Padilla is a San Mateo County native and has been employed by the United States House of Representatives since 2005. She is currently a Senior Field Representative for the Office of Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo. Previously, Christine served as a Senior Field Representative to the late Congressman Tom Lantos, who served as chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Prior to her career in government, Christine was an Executive Director for a non-profit arts organization, and held several leadership positions organizing and promoting film festivals, music endeavors, theatrical performances and community-building projects.
Commissioner Ernst A. Halperin is a Civil Commissioner.
Cost: $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers. You can also earn 1 hour of MCLE credit!

Logistics: Your Zoom credentials will automatically be emailed to you shortly after you register online, as well as the day and hour before the event. The written materials for the webinar will be emailed to attendees the morning of the event.
Cancellations must be received at least 48 hours prior to the event for a full refund of the registration fee. If you do not cancel within 48 hours or do not show up to the event, you will be charged the full amount.
