Members of the SMCBA have the opportunity to join our many committees and sections. With nearly 20 committees and 9 sections to choose from, anyone can get involved and participate in committee(s) and section(s) that interest them!

SMCBA, together with its numerous sections and committees, offers frequent seminars, courses, and forums that fulfill the State Bar of California’s MCLE requirements.  Membership in any of our sections and committees provides opportunities to network with other practitioners who share common interests.  Criminal, Estate Planning/Probate and Family Law sections now offer legal specialization credit!  So, join a section today and pay no MCLE charges for any MCLE session offered by that section for the entire dues year.

Each year, the SMCBA organizes a variety of events designed to honor and celebrate members of the legal profession. Events can be purely social or educational, but either way, they always promise a good time! Some of the SMCBA’s most popular yearly events include Funky Credit Day, Judges’ Night, and Law Day, just to name a few.

Funky Credit Day is the San Mateo County Bar Association’s premier educational event.  It is where you get those “funky,” hard to find credits, have a good time and meet old friends.  The program is always incredibly popular and features various presenters, including attorneys and judges from San Mateo County Superior Court.

Judges’ Night offers SMCBA members the opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the local Judiciary while enjoying cocktails and hors d’ouvres.

Part of a nationwide Law Day celebration, the SMCBA’s annual Law Day luncheon honors the local high school teams participating in the County’s Annual Mock Trial competition. The Law Day luncheon typically features a presentation of Mock Trial student awards for outstanding pretrial attorney, attorney, witness, courtroom reporter and courtroom artist, as well as a Key Note Speech from a local Legal Professional.
