Today, August 1st, at 2 PM there will be a memorial service at Skylawn Memorial Park. A celebration of life will follow at Vino Santo at 5 PM.

New Commissioner Appointed: Timothy Elliott
The San Mateo County Superior Court's newest commissioner was sworn in on Monday, July 29.
Commissioner Timothy E. Elliott. was sworn in by Judge Elizabeth K. Lee and will be based out of Northern Branch.
State Budget Cuts Affect San Mateo County Superior Court
The San Mateo County Superior Court is facing approximately $1.45 million in budget cuts.
As of August 5, 2024, public service phone hours for the Civil, Probate, Family Law, and Records Management divisions will be cutback to 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
The Superior Court is Beginning Electronic Services
The San Mateo County Superior Court began electronically serving documents to attorneys in Civil, Family, and Probate case types, pursuant to the provisions outlined in CCP 1010.6 on October 7, 2024.

CARE Court Launched
San Mateo County launched CARE Court one month ago on July 1st, an implementation in accordance with the Care Act stablished by Senate Bill 1338.
Care Court connects a person struggling with untreated mental illness/substance abuse with a court-ordered Care Plan for up to 24 months.

State Bar Seeks Public Comment
The State Bar seeks public comment on Proposed Amendments to Rules of the State Bar Regarding the Lawyer Assistance Program for a 60-day public comment period.
The public comment period ends September 27, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
Comments should be submitted using the online Public Comment Form.

LRS Fee Waiver Program Fundraiser
The Lawyer Referral Service Program is partnering with Eriks Deli Café in Redwood City to raise money for the fee waiver program.
If you order food from Ericks Deli on Thursday, August 15, 2024, part of the proceeds go to a fee waiver fund that allows SMCBA to give Lawyer Referral Service clients fee waivers when they cannot afford the $35 fee.
