Any San Mateo County Bar Association Member or Student Member is eligible to join the Conference of California Bar Associations (CCBA) Committee. The CCBA is a 501(c)(6)  Non-Profit, and its website is www.ccba.law.

On an annual basis, the CCBA Committee members draft CCBA “Resolutions” to improve California laws.  Each resolution follows the CCBA Resolution template, to include proposed statutory language, supporting arguments (limited to 500 words), and, if applicable, legislative history for each proposed statute amendment.

At the beginning of the year, the Committee reviews the Resolutions that have been submitted by the Committee Members, and votes on whether each Resolution should be sponsored by the San Mateo County Bar Association.  In early spring, the Resolutions that are approved by the Committee are submitted to the CCBA.  In the fall, the Resolutions that are submitted from the various county and specialty Bar Associations from throughout the state are considered and voted on at the CCBA’s annual meeting.

Committee members are also eligible to participate in the CCBA’s annual “Legislative Day” at the Sacramento Capital in the spring.
