Estate Planning/Probate - Ethical Considerations in Estate Planning
In-Person Luncheon (Brown Bag)
Tue, August 13, 2024
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM PT
Description: While all lawyers are subject to the same ethical duties, those duties may be implicated in unique ways for estate planning attorneys. This program will include an overview of the lawyer’s duties of competence, confidentiality, loyalty, and how those duties can be implicated when representing individuals, couples, or multiple generations in estate planning matters and related areas. The program will also include a discussion whether a lawyer has duties to non-clients, such as beneficiaries.
Speaker: Bradford Hise is a Partner and General Counsel for Hanson Bridgett LLP in San Francisco. He advises attorneys on conflicts of interest, legal ethics, and other professional responsibility and risk management issues. He also works with the firm's management to develop and implement internal policies and procedures in the areas of business intake, conflicts, records management, and lateral attorney hiring. Brad is a frequent speaker on risk management matters.
